HARMONY — Southland sophomore pitcher Taylar Schwartz closed the game with four perfect innings as the Rebels beat Fillmore Central (2-9 overall) 16-2 in five innings in a baseball game on the road Thursday.
Schwartz allowed three hits and two runs in the first as Southland (6-6 overall, 6-6 Three Rivers) trailed 2-0 after one. But he didn’t allow a hit or a walk the rest of the way as his team rolled.
“Taylar pitched a real good game and it was probably his best game of the year,” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said.
Southland broke the game open in the second inning when it sent 17 batters to the plate and scored 12 runs.
