KENYON — The Hayfield baseball team had its season end in a 7-0 loss at No. 1 seeded Kenyon-Wanamingo (16-6 overall) in the Section 1A West Division semifinals in Kenyon Thursday.

The No. 5 Vikings (5-15 overall) mustered just two hits and the Knights took the lead for good when they scored six times in the bottom of the third inning.

“We had to bring our ‘A’ game and we just didn’t have it tonight,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said.

Hayfield didn’t have one senior on its team and Krekling hopes the Vikings will be back stronger next season.

“The guys now we have a lot coming back and they’re excited for next year,” Krekling said.
