Steak cookouts are the main fundraisers for the Austin Chapter of the Izaak Walton League.

The Ikes will hold a cookout at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the cabin in Todd Park. The cookout is open to the public, and tickets are $12 — available at the door or by contacting an Ike member.

Each meal contains a 10 ounce sirloin steak, baked potato, coleslaw, bun, and fresh veggies.

Proceeds from the May steak cookout will help fund the Austin High School’s “Green Roof Project.” The goal of that project is to turn the roof of the high school’s annex building into a green roof by installing beds of plants, which will reduce heating and cooling costs and may extend the life of the roof.

Austin Chapter 10 of the Izaak Walton League is a non-profit conservation organization whose mission is to conserve, maintain, protect and restore all soil, waters, wildlife and other natural resources.
