Saloma Miller Furlong, author of “Why I Left the Amish,” will discuss her story to the Austin Public Library at 7 p.m. Thursday. Saloma was featured in the documentary “The Amish” that aired on American Experience.

It will be the 100th talk she has given about her experience. She first left her Amish community in 1977 at 20 years old, after growing up with a mentally-ill father and a mother who worked to provide for seven children.
