‘Acoustic Ninja’ leads weekend entertainment

This weekend is filled with Austin-centric entertainment.

“Acoustic Ninja” Trace Bundy is coming back to the Paramount Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 18. Bundy was born in Austin but moved to Colorado as a child, where he learned to play the guitar. Nowadays, he tours around the country, making stops in Austin every year, showing off his amazing guitar skills.

Bundy was named “Most Promising New Talent” of 2008 by Acoustic Guitar Magazine, and won third place in the magazine’s “Best Fingerstyle Guitarist” category the same year.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $13 at the door.

Northwestern Singers to perform

Also this weekend, the Northwestern Singers and area choir members will present “Requiem” by John Rutter this weekend.

Accompanied by a live orchestra, the concert will be at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. The Northwestern Singers will also perform songs by Moses Hogan, Felix Mendelssohn and other composers such as “Be Still,” “Ev’ry Time I Hear The Spirit,” and “Holy, Holy, Holy.”

Tickets are $10, or $5 for students and are available at St. Edward’s Church, Austin Hy-Vee, from any singer and at the door.
