Tuesday marks the first day prospective civil servants can file to run for office in this year’s election.

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, as four city council seats, the mayoral race, three Austin Public Schools board seats, and two county commissioner seats are up for grabs.

Candidates may file at the city clerk’s office at City Hall for a city council, mayoral, or utilities board seat. Austin Public Schools board candidates may file at the district office inside Austin High School, and county commissioner candidates may file at the Mower County Auditor/Treasurer’s office. The deadline to file is Tuesday, June 5.
