A LeRoy woman who was charged for shooting at a building because she thought her daughter was in it was arrested again last Wednesday after she allegedly fled two sheriff’s deputies.
Marina Cathlina Young, 35, faces one count of fleeing an officer. According to the court complaint, police dispatched to LeRoy last Wednesday to serve a Steele County warrant for a probation violation. When officers spoke with Marina, she allegedly asked to get some shoes and clothes to take with her, which officers said was OK. However, an officer allegedly heard a door close and then discovered that Marina left the house through the back door, hopped a fence and fled.
When officers spoke with Young’s husband, Erik, he said Marina may be at a neighbor’s house, according to the complaint. The complaint also states that Marina was found in the neighbor’s basement hiding behind a bedroom door. Officers then arrested her and transported her to Steele County authorities.
Young is currently charged with two felonies: drive-by shooting at a building and one count of reckless discharge of firearms within a municipality from events that happened on March 16 in LeRoy. Marina also faces one more felony charge for theft. According to the court complaint, officials from Next Generation Pork say Marina and her husband stole more than $5,600 worth of items from the business and sold them as scrap metal back in 2011. Marina has pleaded not guilty in that case. Court records also show Marina was convicted of misdemeanor theft by swindle in Steele County Court in 2010.
Her next court appearances are scheduled for April 12 and 19.
