Despite losses for both the Lyle/Pacelli girls and boys golf teams on Monday night at the River Oaks, coach Mark Buntje saw a few things he liked.

The girls team only lost its meet because of an absent player, and Jeannie Marx was the medalist with the lowest individual score of 47.

Maggie Leif shot 50, and Abby Leif shot 61. The girls’ team is now 2-2 on the year.

While the boys lost by nine strokes, 192 to 183, Buntje said conditions were great for golf, and his team showed its first signs of improvement from last year.

“This was our low round of the year,” Buntje said. “We had four scores under 50, and that’s the first time that’s happened since last year. I was really happy with how both the boys and girls played tonight.”

Spencer Holtorf shot a 46, Max Brennan 48, Ben Aho 49, Thomas Marx 49, Collin Golberg 56 and Justin Servellon 68.

The boys are also 2-2 on the year.

Lyle will take on Lanesboro next Thursday at the River Oaks.
