BLOOMING PRAIRIE — The Awesome Blossoms baseball team looked like they were about to post their second straight win when things went wrong for them in the top of the seventh inning in BP Monday.
BP (2-9 overall, 1-6 Gopher) led 4-3 going into the final frame, when Waterville-Elysian-Morristown (6-4 overall, 4-2 Gopher) scored four runs to walk away with a 7-4 win.
WEM’s first two hitters singled to start the seventh and Ben Boran gave the Bucs the lead for good with a two-run double.
BP had scored two runs to take the lead in the top of the sixth when John Rumpza doubled in Ryan McCabe and Rumpza scored on an infield single by Weston Fiebiger.
“They actually played a solid game,” BP head coach Paul Peterson said. “Our pitching was good and the defense was solid.”
