Baseball: Huskies top Packers in eight innings

The Austin baseball team put up a good fight, but it fell to Owatonna (6-3 overall, 6-3 Big Nine) by a score of 8-5 in eight innings at Dick Seltz Field Thursday.

The Packers (2-8 overall, 2-7 Big Nine) scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at five.

Austin freshman Nik Gasner took the loss as he struck out six and allowed five earned runs.

Austin committed four errors in the loss.

“It was a tough game,” Austin head coach Troy Watkins said. “Nick pitched well, but we just didn’t make enough plays and that was the difference in the game.”
