An Austin man who allegedly assaulted a 27-year-old woman last Friday morning was charged in Mower County Court.
Patrick Dion, 28, faces two charges: domestic assault and fifth-degree assault, both felonies. The maximum penalty is five years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
Police arrested Dion at the 2100 block of Fourth Avenue NE after responding to an assault report at 12:17 a.m. Friday. The victim, who had already gone home, allegedly told police that she and Dion were arguing about money when Dion forced himself through a bathroom door, knocked her into a tub and caused her to hit her head. According to the court complaint, Dion then said he was “very sorry.” However, the fight continued minutes later.
The victim told police she was dazed for about 10 minutes, according to the court complaint. But the fight later continued in the hallway, and Dion allegedly kicked her in the chest after she fell to the floor. Dion then allegedly slapped her in the face while in the kitchen, grabbed her head with both hands and yelled at her. The complaint states that the victim hit her head on the kitchen counter, as well. The officer noticed a bump on the victim’s head and bruises on her face; however, the victim declined medical attention.
The officer suspects Dion had been using narcotics, according to the complaint, as he spoke rapidly and smelled strongly of alcohol before he was taken to the Mower County jail.
Dion is being held at the Mower County jail on $50,000. His criminal record shows convictions for domestic assault and third-degree assault in 2009. Dion’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 12.
