The Zonta Club of Austin will be hosting a dinner at the Austin Country Club to honor local women on March 27.
The dinner will honor women from Mower County that have been nominated by family, friends or co-workers. There are nine nominees, and one of them will be declared the Mower County Woman of Achievement. The names of the candidates will be released later. Social hour begins at 5 p.m., followed by the dinner at 6 p.m. and the program at 7 p.m.
The money raised from this fundraiser will support three scholarships that Zonta Club gives on a yearly basis. They are the Young Woman in Public Affairs award for a high school student, the Jane M. Klausman Woman in Business award for a college student and the GED program for non-traditional students.
Zonta International is working to eliminate human trafficking, and the Zonta Club of Austin will have Patrick Atkinson from the God’s Child Project as the guest speaker for the evening. He will address the group on his efforts to end human trafficking.
