Mower County is among several counties under a red flag warning effective from noon today to 6 p.m. this evening.
High winds and low relative humidity will lead to critical fire conditions throughout southeast Minnesota including Mower County.
The National Weather Service is predicting sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 40 mph. Temperatures will reach into the mid 60s. Combined with the low humidity, fires could start and spread easily.
Conditions are expected to improve tonight when winds will die and dew points will increase.
