GOODHUE — The Lyle-Pacelli boys basketball team had its season end in a 68-63 loss at No. 2 Goodhue (18-7 overall) in the Section 1A West Division quarterfinals Thursday.
The No. 7 seeded Athletics (12-15 overall) trailed 34-18 at the half, but they battled back and made it a close game in the second half.
“It was a good overall game and I’m very proud of the kids,” LP head coach Casey Anderson said. “It was probably the best game we’ve played all year.”
All five starters had at least eight points for LP and David Diang led the way with 18 points.
“All of the kids hit big shots,” Anderson said.
LP had lost to Goodhue 69-34 Jan. 16, but it was much closer this time around.
“It’s a loss, but this was a huge step forward for us,” Anderson said.
