Leisure: You will find it this weekend. It’s in town, and it’s in nearly all forms, including music, food, vacation and more. The kicking back starts Friday; however, this first event may have more viewers on the front edges of their seats.

‘A Common Thread’

“A Common Thread,” opens 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Paramount Theatre, 125 Fourth Ave. NE. And the thread indeed may be common for some as this true mystery — which begins in Denmark — weaves its way through Austin and Spring Valley. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door and $5 for students.

Dance, dance, dance

If you want to dance, then go ahead.

But if you want to watch others dance, then go to “If You Want to Dance … DANCE!” OK, sorry for the confusion, but the latter is an upcoming dance performance, 7:30 p.m. Friday at Frank W. Bridges Theatre, 1900 Eighth Ave. NW, Austin. Tickets are $8, and students get in for free. You can dance if you want to, but don’t leave your friends behind.

3.) For those youngsters with keen eyes for art, the Austin Area Art Center (inside the Oak Park Mall) will be the place to be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. A recycled art workshop will show kids, third grade and older, how to make one man’s trash into one kid’s art. Registration is $15 for non-members and $12 for members. Call 433-8451 for more information.

4.) Flower Power returns this weekend, as well. Dennis Charnecki, Doug Bathke, Scott Anderson, Ann Hemann and Amanda Corey, dressed in hippie garb, will showcase The Age of Aquarius, 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Paramount Theatre, 125 Fourth Ave. NE. Tickets for the ‘60s and ‘70s rock show are $10 in advance, $12 at the door and as always, $5 for students.

5.) The Third Austin Artist Series show will help folks ease into the new week. Just because it’s Monday doesn’t mean there is no entertainment. The show features the Kenya Safari Acrobats, 7 p.m. at Knowlton Auditorium in Austin High School.

After all the fun, it’s back to business, literally. The second of two digital-age business classes hosted by Bruce Schwartau will take place 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Ellis Middle School.
