A 30-year-old Dodge Center man charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old Lyle girl was sentenced Thursday in Mower County Court.
Isaac Joseph Jones was convicted of one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct as part of a plea agreement. He was sentenced to 72 months in prison, stayed for 20 years’ supervised probation and he will serve 365 days in Mower County Jail and pay $60 in restitution.
According to a court complaint, the 14-year-old girl’s father locked Jones in a camper around 7 a.m. the morning of Aug. 15 after discovering Jones and the girl had been in the camper together.
The girl told police she met up with Jones at the Lyle City Park at 4 a.m. on Aug. 15. The two then went to the camper, where Jones and the girl began kissing. She told police Jones touched her sexually, but they did not engage in sexual intercourse, according to the complaint
However, the girl reportedly told officers Jones asked her via text message if he could have sex with her.
When police questioned Jones, he said he came to “hang out” with his “friend,” whom he acknowledged was 14- or 15-years-old, the complaint states.
Jones must complete a sex-offender program, have no contact with the victim or her family, stay at least 1,000 feet away from schools, parks, campgrounds or places where minors are, not drink alcohol, submit to chemical and polygraph testing and not possess sexually explicit material.
