William Olaf Christopherson, 80, of Austin, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born on July 27, 1931, in Rochester to Olaf and Dorothy (Winkels) Christopherson. Bill attended Columbus Grade School and St. Augustine High School (Pacelli) in Austin. He graduated from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn. in 1953. On Dec. 27, 1954, he was joined in marriage to Mary Stark at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Austin.
Following graduation from college, Bill began working for the George A. Hormel Company and left to serve in the U.S. Army for two years. He then returned to Austin to work for the Hormel Company as an accountant for 42 years.
He was preceded in death by: son John Henry, grandson Michael Steven, brothers Robert and Donovan (Dick) and parents Olaf and Dorothy.
Bill is survived by his wife Mary Christopherson, Austin; children: Patrick (Patsy) Christopherson, Austin; Mark (Aleta) Christopherson, Austin; Teresa (Randy) Judd, Austin; Thomas Christopherson, Austin; Jane (Gary) Weiers, Faribault; Katherine (Eeron) Bergstrom, Austin; Joseph (Elizabeth) Christopherson, Stockton, Calif.; Anne Christopherson, Austin; Daniel (Mary-Ann) Christopherson, Lakeville; Peter (Diane) Christopherson, Austin; Matthew (Kyron) Christopherson, Elk River, Minn.; grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Betty Wagner, Austin; brothers: David Christopherson, Long Meadow, Mass.; Michael Christopherson, Hutchinson, Kan.
A memorial mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church with Father James Steffes and Father Donald Zenk co-officiating. Friends may greet the family at the church for one hour before the service.
Memorials are preferred to Pacelli Catholic Schools.
