Mower County jailers prevented an inmate from hanging himself at the Mower County Jail and Justice Center Sunday night.

Jailors found the man, 32, trying to hang himself with a bed sheet at about 7:52 p.m., according to Sheriff Terese Amazi. The man was isolated from other inmates at the time. He was cut down and taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin, where he was treated for minor contusions on his neck.

The man was back in jail Monday morning.
