The Cedars was full of friendship Tuesday.
Pacelli Catholic School second-graders celebrated Valentine’s Day with The Cedars of Austin residents by singing, performing, and making arts and crafts.
“It was excellent,” said Viola Besse about Pacelli’s musical performance. “They’re well trained. It was very enjoyable.”
Students visited The Cedars as part of their Valentine’s Day party, according to second-grade teacher Jamie Zielke. Zielke, fellow teacher Shelly Weinmann and some of the Pacelli room moms decided to plan a party based on Pacelli contributing to others rather than celebrating at school.
“It’s great for the kids,” she said.
The students appeared to have their share of fun as well, sharing in bracelet and Valentine’s Day cardmaking with Cedars residents.
“It’s good,” said second-grader Sam King. “We’re helping.”
While Cedars residents see Pacelli students perform about once a month, this visit was special not only because of Valentine’s Day but because it was the Cedars residents’ monthly birthday celebration.
“It’s a friendship day,” said Cathy Ehley, Cedars recreation/wellness director. “This is a way we can help fulfill (residents’ needs).”
