The Athletics boys basketball team couldn’t stop Lanesboro’s perimeter game as they lost 83-60 in their last regular season game of the season in Pacelli Gym Thursday.
The Burros knocked down 11 threes on the night as they pulled away at the end of the first half.

The Athletics (11-14 overall, 8-10 SEC) closed to within 25-24 with 7:11 left in the first half after Josh Hart hit a three and David Diang knocked down a jump shot.
But things fell apart for LP a few minutes later when Skylar Meyer, who finished with 19 points, picked up his third foul.
With Meyer on the bench, the Burros (16-9 overall, 15-3 SEC) mounted a 14-4 run to close the half and Cory Strom hit two threes to open the second half and make it a 50-30 game.
Meyer’s minutes were limited and so were David Diang’s as he left the game for awhile with an ankle injury. But Hart, a freshman, stepped in and scored 13 points.
“We just came out so flat, but I thought Jordan played well,” LP head coach Casey Anderson said. “With Skylar and David out for a long stretch, he did a good job of being a leader.”
LP finishes the season in second place in SEC West Division behind Glenville-Emmons.
The Athletics enter the Section 1A West Division tournament as a No. 7 seed and they will host No. 10 Alden-Conger Tuesday at 7 p.m. The winner of the game will play at Goodhue March 1 at 7 p.m.
