Stella Burczyk Kaphers, 96

Memorial services for Stella Burczyk Kaphers, 96, of Marshall, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. The Rev. Father Paul Wolf will officiate. Friends may visit with family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The committal service will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Ivanhoe at 2 p.m.
Stella was born in rural Ivanhoe on Feb. 9, 1916, daughter of Joe Burczyk and Annie (Paneck) Burczyk. She graduated from country school in rural Ivanhoe. Stella married Thomas Kaphers. They lived in Chicago, Lynd, Marshall and rural Ivanhoe. They owned and operated the Lynd Café. Later she worked in Marshall, Ivanhoe, Arco and on their small farm in rural Ivanhoe. She later moved to Marshall and worked in several locations. Stella and Thomas had one daughter, Joyce, and one son, Jerald. Stella enjoyed learning, her friends, family, flower gardening, reading and crossword puzzles. She loved her family, friends, her home, her country and her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Stella died on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall.
Stella is survived by her son, Jerald Kapher of Albert Lea; daughter, Joyce Kaphers (Tom) Daniel of Osseo; grandchildren: Mary Daniel (Dave) Fedor, Chris Kaphers, Tom (Angie) Kaphers and Kelliann Kaphers; step-grandson, Scott Johnson; great-grandchild, Hannah Daniel of Buffalo; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Joe and Annie (Paneck) Burczyk; her spouse, Thomas Kaphers; her brother, Ambrose Burczyk; two sisters: Regina (Roy) Kopolczynski and Agnes (Oscar) Malgren; daughter-in-law, Joan Hill Kaphers; two grandsons: Mike Daniel and Matthew Daniel; and step-grandson, Rhett Johnson.
Stella is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
