The Austin girls basketball team’s six game winning streak came to a stop when it lost at Winona (4-8 overall, 3-4 Big Nine) 65-33 Tuesday.

The game was tied at 26 at halftime, but the Winhawks opened the second half on a big run to go up 12 points and Austin (7-7 overall, 4-4 Big Nine) never got closer than eight the rest of the way.

“The game was decided in the first three minutes of the second half,” Austin head coach Gary Peterson said. “We just didn’t play with the energy and intensity that we’ve been playing with lately.”
