The Hayfield girls basketball team fell to Kasson-Mantorville 60-51 in Hayfield Thursday.

The Komets (15-0 overall), who are ranked No. 8 in Class ‘AAA,’ hit all 11 of their free throws in the second half to put the game away.

Hayfield (6-8 overall) rallied to tie the game at 37 with nine minutes to go, but then it committed three straight turnovers to fall behind again.

“All of the sudden we didn’t score for four minutes and then we were chasing seven points again,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said.
