Shirley Marie Haase, 83

Shirley Marie Haase, 83, of Owatonna, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society Ambassador Care Center of New Hope.

She was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Brownsdale, the daughter of Charley and Theda (Weiland) Nelson. Shirley graduated from Brownsdale High School. She married Roland Haase Nov. 11, 1961, in Brownsdale. She worked as a secretary for the school in Austin and later for Redeemer Lutheran Church in Owatonna. Shirley and her husband operated a lawn mowing and yard care business for a number of years. They also took care of the grounds of the Steele County Historical Society.

Shirley enjoyed lunches with the Sunshine Group from Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was known for baking wonderful homemade buns and she loved to eat shrimp.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Wyelene Haase of San Francisco, Calif., Lorraine (and Scott) Anderson of New Hope; son, Dean (and Karin) Haase of Mounds View; sister, Delores (and Vern) Davis of Austin; brother, Everett Nelson of Austin and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Haase and brother, Wallace Nelson.

Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. John Lestock officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to trinity Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.
