The Austin wrestlers lost eight matches by one point as they took sixth place out of seven teams at the Eden Prairie Invite Saturday.

“We weren’t quite as sharp as we have been over the last few weeks,” Austin head coach Bill Kinney said. “Teams are going to have flat performances sometimes, and ours was on Saturday.”

Austin’s only wrestler in the finals was Erick Power, who finished second at 120 pounds.

Power lost the title match due to injury default to Eden Prairie’s Ben Barancale, who is ranked No. 3 in Class ‘AAA.’

Power, who is 12-2 on the season, got to the finals with a 9-1 major decision over Jake Laudenbach of Annandale-Maple Lake.

Austin’s Brennen Russell took third at 126, Dylan Diekmann took third at 132, Brandon Cotter took third at 138, Riley Grinstead took fifth at 145, Mitch Tebay took fifth at 170, Michael Gaines took sixth at 152 and Connor Eads took sixth at 106.
