The Hayfield girls basketball team gave No. 3 ranked New Richland-H-E-G a good fight, but the Vikings saw their three-game winning streak come to an end in a 50-40 loss to the Panthers (11-0 overall) in New Richland Saturday.
Hayfield (6-7 overall) only allowed four NRHEG players to score, but sophomore Carlie Wagner, who is already a 1,000 point scorer, poured in 23 points and sophomore Jade Schultz scored 21 points.
“A lack of rebounding and too many turnovers led to our demise,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said.
Hayfield 17 23 — 40
NRHEG 22 28 — 50
Hayfield scoring: Alyssa Selk, 16; Dani Wagner, 10; Abby Pollock, 9; Kelsey Severson, 3; Johanna Bungum, 2
