The Hayfield boys basketball team bounced back from a 14-day layoff with a 49-38 win over Stewartville (3-14 overall, 0-8 HVL Gold) in Hayfield Tuesday.
Hayfield’s Dillon Wagner had a career-high 16 points as the Vikings (14-4 overall, 7-1 HVL Gold) pulled away in the second half.
“Most of Dillon’s scores came on back screens from Bobbie Stephens,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said. “They didn’t help out on Dillon and he got some easy ones.”
Hayfield led by just three at the half as it got off to a slow start after not playing in the last 14 days.
“I was a little about this game. I think part of it was rust,” he said. “We made some bad decisions and some of it was mental.”
Stewartville 15 23 — 38
