The Hayfield girls basketball team couldn’t close the door as they fell to Pine Island (3-0 overall, 2-0 HVL) 31-30 on the road Tuesday.

PI closed the game on a 13-2 run over the last eight minutes.

“We had a few turnovers and a some missed free throws on the front end of one-on-ones that cost us,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said.

The Vikings (0-3 overall, 0-1 HVL) were led by sophomore Dani Wagner, who scored 15 points.
