The holidays are a time to remember and reflect upon our past. Not only our personal past, but also that of our community and country.
This Wednesday marks the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, a day President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed to be “a date which will live in infamy.”
To mark this momentous occasion, the Austin Area Commission for the Arts will be presenting Five By Design’s Radio Holly Days at the Paramount Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16.
Audience members will be transformed into a live studio audience of a 1930s style radio broadcast complete with the heartwarming music that made Christmas special for the boys overseas.
For a marvelous yuletide treat, experience the fun with holiday hits from Bing Crosby, the Andrews Sisters, Betty Grable, Carmen Miranda and Glenn Miller. Join us before the show for an additional holiday treat.
In partnership with and held at the Historic Hormel Home, we are offering a VIP All-American Dinner catered by the Austin Country Club Sous Chef Denise Sutter. Dinner starts at 5:30 pm.
Tickets for both dinner and the show are only $45. Order them by calling 434-0934 or stop by the Paramount Theatre from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday or Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.
As always, we are also hosting numerous events this week.
On Saturday, Dec. 10 brings the hilarious theatrical production, Holy Bells. A Deer Camp Christmas, to the Paramount stage. Then on Sunday, Dec. 11, we will host a special Lucia Fest performance in memory of Darren M. Lewis.
Donations to attend this event will go towards purchasing a Paramount seat and star in his name as well as assisting his family.
We hope you will join us this season to let us be part of your holiday memories.
