Storm could bring 4 to 7 inches of snow

The National Weather Service in La Crosse, Wis. has updated its weekend forecast to include a winter storm watch through Saturday night and a hazardous weather outlook through next Thursday. The winter storm watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet and ice.

There is a chance of snow tonight and Saturday, with potential for a lot on Saturday night. NWS officials predict a 40 percent chance of precipitation tonight and forecast a 100 percent chance on Saturday, with as much as 4 to 7 inches of snow accumulation possible by Saturday night. The heaviest snowfall could be in northeastern Iowa, southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. NWS is calling it a “potent storm system.”

According to the hazardous weather outlook on the NWS website, “Travel will be impacted Saturday and Saturday night.”
