The Austin gymnastics team won its second straight invite as it came through with its best score of the season of 138 at the Blue Earth Invite Saturday.

The Packers showed their depth in the meet as they didn’t flinch when an injury caused them to adjust their lineup.

“The bars started hectic when one of all arounders rolled her ankle,” Austin head coach Mark Raymond said. “Without missing a beat, eighth grader Logan Tischer jumped out and filled in beautifully.”

Austin was led by Sela Fadness, who took first in the vault, bars and beam and the Packers took the top three spots on the floor, as Abby Bickler was first, Carolyn Hackel was second and Fadness was third.

Austin’s entire team also contributed in a meet that included Martin County West, which took third at state last season, and Jackson County Central, which is in the top-10 in the state.

“The girls are beginning to realize that we’re a pretty deep team,” Raymond said. “It was a good day for a lot of different girls.”
