The Christmas concert of the Austin Symphony Orchestra’s 55th season, on Dec. 11, will feature a variety of holiday music. The concert will be held at the Knowlton Auditorium at Austin High School at 2 p.m. and will be conducted by Steve Ramsey.
Austin’s own male quartet, “Forte,” will be the featured soloists and this concert will be the last chance to hear them perform. “Forte” was organized in 2005 by Tom Klipfel, a retired high school music instructor and administrator. Other members include Brad Weber, a well-known performer in the Austin area, and who is currently director of Radiology at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, Wis. Dan Kahl, baritone, is Associate Pastor of Youth and Inter-generational Ministries at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. He graduated from Luther College in 1988 where he sang with Nordic Choir. John Deyo also has performed many times in the Austin area and is owner of ViDeyo Arts. They will perform a variety of Christmas music with the orchestra.
The orchestra will play songs such as a Corelli Christmas Concerto, Amundson’s Rejoice, and an audience sing-along.
Concerts are presented through the cooperation of Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council, Inc. through funding from the McKnight Foundation and the Minnesota State Legislature.
