Hoban shuts down Winona as Packer girls win 3-0

Austin eighth grade goalie Allison Hoban stopped 38 shots as the Packers blanked Winona 3-0 on the road in a girls hockey game Thursday night.

The Packers (4-1 overall, 2-0 Big Nine) held off the Winhawks (1-2 overall, 1-2 Big Nine) on two five-on-three powerplays as they played solid defense throughout the win.

“The defense didn’t let Allison get screened and they did a good job of clearing out,” said Austin head coach Denny Bray, who now has 200 career wins. “Winona plays tough and hard, but we’re a little faster. Hoban played out of her mind.”
