The Lyle-Pacelli boys basketball team lost its season opener at Randolph by a score of 52-33 Monday.

The Athletics (0-1 overall) struggled with foul trouble as Skylar Meyer and Steven Juenger, who each scored seven points, fouled out late in the game. The Rockets (1-1 overall) took advantage as they hit 16 of their 18 free throws.

“We had some good, we had some bad and we saw a lot of ugly,” L-P head coach Casey Anderson said. “We showed our age out there at times.”

L-P, which was led by junior David Diang, who scored eight points, has just one senior on its roster.

“We need to be way more aggressive. We’re giving up lay-ups to take 12-footers,” Anderson said.

L-P scoring: David Diang, 8; Skylar Meyer, 7; Steven Juenger, 7; Jonah Rohne, 6; Max Brennan, 3; Damien Haugen, 2
