An Austin woman who was sentenced to jail time in November for burglary allegedly stole her mother’s car this weekend, which reportedly led police to an underage drinking party.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said six people, including two juveniles, were given tickets for minor consumption just after midnight Sunday. Police discovered the party after Nyachieng Rolkier, 40, reported her 2001 red Dodge Caravan stolen by her daughter around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Officers found Rolkier’s daughter, 19-year-old Nyakier James Thiach, and the reportedly stolen vehicle at the party in the 500 block of Fifth Avenue NW, according to Krueger.
Thiach was arrested for motor vehicle theft and minor consumption. She was sentenced in early November on a burglary charge and faces a probation violation for Sunday morning’s arrest.
Police arrested Atem Acuoth Thuc, 25, Jimmy Wani Evans, 24, and Mdeng Alier Ajok Mlouk, 28, for violating the social host ordinance. The three men were detained until sober and given citations, Krueger said.
Those cited for minor consumption include Thiach, Nyamuoch Peter Chuony, 19, Nyalani Biel Jal, 20, Yar Bul Bior, 20, and two juveniles.
