Willmar edges Austin girls hockey team 2-1

The Austin girls hockey team suffered its first loss of the season when it fell to Willmar 2-1 in the title game of the Willmar Invite Saturday.
Willmar (5-0-1 overall) broke a 1-1 tie when Miranda Roelofs scored with 12:40 left in the game.
Austin (3-1 overall) was out-shot 35-25 on the night and the Packers had just six shots on goal in the third period.
Austin was called for seven penalties and Willmar was whistled for six penalties.
“It was a hard fought game and it was a rough game,” Austin head coach Denny Bray said. “We’ve got to cut the penalties down.”Austin junior Carley Grunewald on a powerplay scored with two minutes left in the first period to tie the game up.
Allison Hoban had 33 saves in the net for Austin.
