A LeRoy teen was arrested for allegedly driving drunk around 1 a.m. Monday morning after rolling his vehicle.
John Marx, 19, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin after crashing his car at the 130 block of 755th Avenue near LeRoy, according to Sheriff Terese Amazi. Amazi said Marx had swerved to miss hitting a deer, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and roll into the ditch.
Marx was not wearing a seatbelt and reportedly struck a support wire for an electrical pole. He was taken to MCHS-Austin with minor injuries but was released and is being held in the Mower County jail for a court appearance.
Amazi said a blood test was given to determine Marx’s blood alcohol content. That information is not available yet.
Another DWI arrest was made early Sunday morning just after midnight, according to Amazi. Michael Klennert, 40, of Iowa, was arrested near Industrial Boulevard and State Highway 56 while he was checking the trailer being pulled behind his vehicle.
An officer pulled over to assist Klennert, according to Amazi, and he appeared intoxicated. Klennert’s blood alcohol content was reportedly .21, Amazi said. He is being held in jail pending a court appearance.
