Ethan Johnson and Melissa Navoa play the Prince and Cinderella in the upcoming Austin High School presentation of "Cinderella."

Austin High School students are hoping to enchant area residents this weekend with their fall musical, “Cinderella.”

Director Kate Schoonover said she’s excited to showcase the students’ talent after working hard to put the show together.

“We’ve got a lot of really amazing supporting actors,” Schoonover said. “We want a big audience to show them what we’ve done, because we’ve spent a lot of time getting this accomplished.

“We’re excited for an amazing show.”

The leading role of Cinderella is played by sophomore Melissa Navoa. Schoonover said Navoa has a beautiful voice and is a very talented actress. Along with some great musical talent, the show also includes children actors and humorous exchanges between the step-mother and step-sisters.

“I think people will be excited about some of the wacky step-sister and step-mother scenes,” Schoonover said. “They’re pretty hilarious.”

Schoonover said adults who work for the district and students get in free with identification. Children get in free with a parent or adult ticketholder.

Regular adult tickets cost $7. The musical will be held at Austin High School’s Christgau Hall at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 and Nov. 12.
