An electrical fire in rural Blooming Prairie Friday morning was extinguished before it caused too much damage to the home, according to Sheriff Terese Amazi.
Amazi said Mower County Sheriff’s deputies and the Blooming Prairie Fire Department responded to the fire on 305th Street just before 8 a.m. Friday.
Homeowner James Pyburn, 58, said the fire started in the basement from old fuse boxes. He was able to contain much of the fire before the fire department and deputies arrived, Amazi said.
There was damage to a fire panel in Pyburn’s house and some minor smoke damage in his basement.
