Matt Lunning, Austin
I have always considered myself to be very fortunate. I’ve grown up in a great town, great state, and a beautiful country. I am fortunate to live in a community where people have supported me in everything I’ve done. I enjoy a wonderful family, great religious atmosphere, and a quality education that will take me far in life.
My education has helped me greatly over the years. It’s an essential part of who I am today, and will be tomorrow. My experience with the Austin Public Schools is something I would want other students to benefit from. As an outgoing student of our district, I have some advice for local students: Try your hardest, never give up, and grasp every opportunity graciously afforded to you.
Whether or not you think that advice is valuable, you along with the rest of our community are presented with a challenge. We are challenged to step up, and leave our community better than we had it; to give the future something to look forward to and value for the rest of their lives: a better education. The Austin Public Schools Facility Referendum is an affordable option that gives back to our students by giving them a 21st Century education, while providing our schools with more classroom space, which is long overdue.
Nov. 8 is an important day for us. It’s the day we decide our future, and the future of our community. The choice is yours. It’s up to you to decide.
