The Grand Meadow football team avenged an earlier loss to Mabel/Canton (5-5 overall) when it beat the Cougars 34-20 in a Section 1 nine man quarterfinal game in GM Saturday.

The No. 2 seeded Superlarks (7-3 overall) never trailed and they sealed the game when Richard Bain busted off a 16-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

GM will play at No. 1 Spring Grove (10-0 overall) in the Section 1 nine-man title game Friday at 7 p.m.

The Lions beat GM 41-12 in the regular season.
