The Austin girls soccer team scored their first goal in three games, but they couldn’t hold off Rochester John Marshall (5-7-1 overall) in a 3-1 loss at Art Hass Stadium Tuesday.

The Packers (4-10 overall, 1-7 Big Nine) took a 1-0 lead in the first half when Nicole Lipari knocked in a corner kick with a header, but an early missed opportunity slowed down Austin’s momentum in the second half.

“We got pushed in the goal area and should’ve gotten a penalty kick and it wasn’t called,” Austin head coach Enrique Camarena-Corzo said. “The girls played amazing, but there’s nothing you can do about that.”

A couple of minutes later JM tied the game at one and the Rockets went on to score two more goals.
