With a couple of key injuries, the Blooming Prairie volleyball team couldn’t quite regroup as it lost by scores of 26-24, 19-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-7 to Medford (9-15 overall) in BP Tuesday.
BP recently lost outside hitter Janelle Morem to an ACL injury and Shelbi Swenson is still recovering from an injury, so the Blossoms (14-10 overall) had to move freshman Nicole Inwards from libero to outside hitter and Lyndsay Pryor and Maggie Sorensen filled in at libero.
Inwards came up with 10 kills, while Jenna Krell had 15 kills and Taylor Hagen had 14 kills, but it wasn’t enough.
“There was a lot of effort expounded tonight by our team,” BP head coach Gina McLaughlin said. “The girls really worked hard. We were just streaky with our passing and had Madison (Worke) on the run more than we hoped. Also, our floor defense needed a little more tonight.”
BP stats: Jenna Krell, 15 kills, 1 assist, 3 blocks, 14 digs; Taylor Hagen, 14 kills, 5 blocks, 2 digs; Nicole Inwards, 10 kills, 1 ace, 3 blocks, 22 digs; Marissa Jensen, 9 kills, 1 block, 4 digs; Madison Worke, 2 kills, 44 assists, 1 ace, 2 blocks, 10 digs; Kierstin Wencl, 1 kill, 1 ace, 10 digs; Lyndsay Pryor, 17 digs; Maggie Sorensen, 1 ace, 2 digs; Hannah Sunde, 9 digs
