High risk for fires continues across region

Conditions are still right for fires Thursday as high temperatures continue to mix with low humidity.
A red flag warning continues through much of the area. The National Weather Service posts red flag warnings when weather conditions create a high risk for fires. These warnings could be in place for days, until conditions change, according to Minnesota Department of Natural Resources officials.
The conditions could continue a few more days. The relative humidity is expected to drop to around 20 percent Thursday, when a high of 82 is expected with 19 to 22 mph winds and 31 mph gusts, according to NWS. On Friday, the high will be around 79 with winds 25 to 28 mphwith 38 mph gusts. However, there’s a 20 percent chance of rain Friday, a 30 percent chance Saturday and a 40 percent chance Sunday.
