Genealogy workshop scheduled

Are you someone who likes family history?

Then participate in the Mower County Historical Society’s Genealogy Detectives Workshop on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Participants will receive information on getting organized with their genealogy work and then be allowed to spend most of the time being a genealogy detective in search of family history. Pre-registration is required and space is limited to the first eight paid registrations.

The registration fee includes: a snack/beverage for workshop breaks, 20 free copies, class handouts, Internet access, and access to all library collections. Registration fees are $30 for current MCHS members and $40 for non-members.

Historical Society schedules annual meeting at HHH

The Mower County Historical Society invites its members and the public to attend its annual meeting at the Hormel Historic Home at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3.

Tickets are $12 and RSVPs must be made at the historical society by Wednesday, Oct. 26. Attendees do not have to be members of the society to attend. The night will include a business meeting, catered dinner, door prizes, and a guest speaker, professional storyteller Mike Cotter.
