County to contract X-ray services

The county increased the number or services it can provide within the confines of the Mower County Jail Tuesday.
The county entered into an agreement with a mobile radiology company out of Edina to perform necessary X-rays at the jail.
Current X-rays are done at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.
Not only will the Twin Cities company do the services at a cheaper cost, but it will be more secure, according to commissioners. The inmates won’t need to be transported to MCHS-Austin, and it will reduce the staff time.
In emergency situations, X-rays may still be completed at the medical center.
