Austin Public Schools is a little richer thanks to community donations this month.
Target, the Arkema Foundation, Austin Police and Fire Departments, and Wells Fargo each recently donated money to the district.
Target’s Take Charge of Education program donated $2,142 to Austin High School and $211 to Neveln Elementary School for general supplies.
The Arkema Foundation donated $500 to Southgate Elementary School for science curriculum assistance. Arkema recently renewed a program where area teachers get a week-long science bootcamp, followed by a new lesson set and donations for expendable supplies.
Austin Police and Fire Departments donated $1,000 to the district’s elementary schools for security door updates. Each elementary school upgraded its main entrance over the summer so visitors must be let in by school staff.
Wells Fargo/Lisa Schara donated $77 to Neveln for school supplies.
