The Austin girls soccer team couldn’t find enough offense as it lost to Rochester Century 2-0 in Art Hass Stadium Tuesday.
The Packers (4-7 overall, 1-5 Big Nine) struggled to control possession as they fired just three shots on goal, while Austin keeper Abby Gallaher made 11 saves.
Gallaher was on edge for most of the night as the Panthers kept the pressure on.
“It gets pretty frustrating sometimes,” Gallaher said. “But I understand they’re tired too, because they’re running up and down the field.”
Austin had two solid scoring chances as Carley Grunewald had a breakaway shot stopped by Century keeper Bethany Schultz seven minutes into the game and Brianna Byum had a 35-yard indirect kick stopped on a leaping save by Schultz with 27 minutes left in the contest.
The Panthers (7-6 overall, 6-0 Big Nine) got both of their goals from freshman Rachel Christenson — who scored on a crossing pass from Kendall Leet-Otley in the 46th minute and her second goal came on a centering pass from Jenny Guibert in the 50th minute.
“Last year it was 10-0 and 6-0, so 2-0 isn’t bad,” Gallaher said. “We’ll get there and we can totally play with them, we just can’t get down on ourselves.”
