The Packers were on the offensive all night, but it wasn’t until late in the game that they finally connected in a 1-0 boys soccer win at Byron (5-5-1 overall) Monday.

Austin junior Francisco Torres took a pass from Jordan Bentley and beat the Byron defense to the middle of the field, where he launched an 18-yarder into the back of the net with 15 minutes left in the contest to make it 1-0.

The Packers (4-3-3 overall) held Byron to just three shots on goal and all of those were stopped by keeper Collin Weisert.

“The defense shut down a lot of their shots before they made it to Collin,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “We really played as a unit instead of a bunch of individuals. The different positions communicated and trusted each other to do their job.”

Austin’s offense fired 20 shots in the win.
