Officials at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin want the public to know more about its expansion project.
The medical center will hold a special celebration for its building expansion from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 in the northwest corner of the medical center’s main parking lot under the tent.
The public is invited to attend, to learn more about the project and listen to medical center officials talk about the addition.
“This expansion project is a big deal for us and want to celebrate the kickoff of the project,” said Adam Rees, chief administrative officer at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin. “We have had tremendous staff and community support already with our capital campaign and this celebration is just another way to express our excitement about our new future in health care.”
The 86,500-square-foot, three-story expansion is projected to last 20-24 months and cost $28 million. The expansion is expected to create 70 full-time jobs, including nine new physicians.
Architectural drawings and details of the project will be available in print and are currently available at www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org. Click on Minnesota, then Austin, and then Building a Healthier Community.
